Thanks for stopping by. As you can see in the About page, I’m a writer aspiring to be an author. I’m also an avid reader so don’t be surprised to find some book recommendations in my Posts.

McX obviously isn’t my given name. I stole it from the title (and title character) of a strange little book by Todd McEwen. Something I first read McX when I was living in Manchester and spending most weekends in Scotland (often Edinburgh), and later I learned that McEwen was an ex-pat American living in Edinburgh when he wrote the book. While I wouldn’t say that I identify with the strange little McX of the book, the crusty wee fellow somehow worked his way into my heart and mind and though that was many years ago, I’ve often used McX as an alter ego in forums and websites.

I know it’s probably a terrible pen name and I’ll likely change it in the future, but for now, I’m McX.

Olive

This is Olive, our Hound mix.

Olive was just a few months old when she was rescued, cold and hungry underneath an overpass, by the kind folks at One by One Animal Rescue in Somerville, TX. She was so scrawny that the vet underestimated her eventual weight by 30 pounds. It took her a long time to figure out how to interact with humans and even to relax outside her crate, but she’s a sweetie now.

About

I’m McX. I’m writing a mystery/thriller novel. And a screenplay. Oh, and I made a website. Did I mention I have a day job?

Yeah, maybe I should focus.

Shout out to the Mystery Writers of America, and particularly the Pacific Northwest Chapter, from and through whom I am learning so much about the craft of mystery writing.
